TEHRAN – Pejman Dorostkar will remain head coach of Iran freestyle wrestling team until the 2024 Olympic Games.
The coach is under pressure after his team’s lackluster performance in the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Team Melli just won one gold medal as well as one silver and three bronzes, finishing third behind Kazakhstan and Japan.
The wrestling federation has announced that Dorostkar will remain as head coach in Paris 2024.
The Federation has also said that freestyle wrestling’s weak results will be scrutinized by the technical staff of the team.
