Head of Iran’s Agricultural Products Exporters Union Seyed Reza Noorani says India once again has returned Iran’s kiwi cargos despite observing all healthy instructions.
Speaking to ILNA, Noorani said that according to the directives of Indian government and issuing licenses for exporting Iran’s kiwi to India, Iran sent 10 containers of kiwi to India but Indians returned 8 of them claiming they were polluted with mulberry weevil.
He added that exports should be handed over to the efficient exporters otherwise they will tarnish the credit of Iranian products in the international markets and currently 2 containers of kiwi have exported to India but India has not answered to it.
On the trend of exporting mesh products to Russia, he said that greenhouse products like bell pepper, kiwi and apple are exported to Russia and expressed hope that the trend of exports to Russia would be broadened but the country has not been successful in exporting citrus fruits to China and no MoU has been signed between Iran and China. He noted that the Chines should reply to the request of Iran’s agro products and then the ministry announces it to the private sector whether they can export orange to China.
Noorani then pointed to the problems of agro products exporters and said return of the forex for exports is one of the main problems and also criticized the Central Bank for its regulations and their approval without consultation with economic activists.
He also criticized the rise of price of transportation which increases the cost of exports, reiterating that exporters have to sell their forex from exports to sell their forex based on the NIMA system rate which is lower than the free market and it is not fair because exporters buy their required equipment with the free market rate dollar.
Noorani reiterated that some believe that exporters benefit from devaluation of the national currency against the dollar and it is not right because devaluation of the national currency leads to hike in prices and cost of production and therefor the profit margin of the exporters is lowered.
