Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mansour made the remarks in the meeting with et with Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Kazakhstan, “Ruslan Mamishev”.
Conferring on ways to broaden bilateral ties especially in field of water, soil and natural resources, Head of FRWMO referred to the existence of 14 million hectares of forests, more than 80 million hectares of pastures and 30 million hectares of desert lands in Iran, saying that natural resources, especially forests, are now managed by the Natural Resources Organization with conservation measures and without using wood from the forest.
Mansour in his remarks, Iran has a significant success in the field of desertification, and has a long history in this field and has turned 1,5 million hectares of desert lands into forests.”
According to Head of the Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWMO), there are good experiences in the field of fighting desertification in Iran, which can be transferred to Kazakhstan in the form of mutual cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Kazakhstan, for his part, in the meeting, expressed satisfaction with the meeting and noted Iran’s cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of agriculture and natural resources.
Mamishev described the drying up of the Ural Lake in Kazakhstan as his country’s biggest environmental challenge, noting that the drying up of the Ural Lake produces more than 100,000 tons of salt dust a year and disperses it into the air, so Iran can help Kazakhstan with its expertise and technologies in rehabilitating the Ural Lake, afforestation in desert and non-desert lands, as well as providing watershed management technical services.
Referring to the issue of forestry in Kazakhstan, he said: “In 2021, about 61,000 hectares of forestry were carried out in Kazakhstan, and the current forest area in Kazakhstan is 6 million hectares.”
