Iran to expand tourist exchanges with neighbors

Iran’s deputy tourism minister Ali-Asghar Shalbafian said in a meeting with the Chief Commercial Officer of Flydubai Hamad Obaidalla on Monday that Tehran plans to develop tourism collaborations with neighboring countries.

To this end, Iranian private and governmental sectors will cooperate to pave the way for developing the tourism industry.

Given the fact that the Flydubai possesses connecting flights or transit flights, it is very important to link Iran with other states in the region.

Therefore, the deputy minister plans to utilize the flight capacities of the UAE and Iran to increase the number of tourists from Lahore in Pakistan, Hyderabad in India, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.

Hamad Obaidallah, for his part, pointed to information he received from a seminar of Iranian and Iraqi tourism actors in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi province, noting that regional countries should pave the way for connecting private sectors in order to develop the tourism industry.

Referring to 30 flights by Flydubai to Iran per week, he said that the number will increase to 50 flights in the near future in order to transfer more tourists to Iranian destinations.

He further said that Flydubai conducts weekly flights to Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, Tehran, Isfahan, and Mashhad, adding that connecting flights will help transfer tourists from Pakistan and Oman to Iran.
