TEHRAN (Iran News) – Head of Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce Mehrdad Saadat says Iran’s exports to Turkey have increased by 53 percent in the first four months of the current year comparing to the same period last year but reiterated that the figure is not considerable because last year due to the pandemic and other problems Iran’s exports to Turkey had declined.

Speaking on the latest condition of trade between Iran and Turkey, Saadat said fortunately we have faced rise in exports to Turkey this year and the trade surplus with this country has been positive but since in the same period Iran’s exports to Turkey had declined, the current figure is not so considerable and our exports to Turkey is not satisfactory.

He added that the trade volume of Iran and Turkey in first four months has been $1.2b which is not a big figure because Iran has the potential for at least 15-billion-dollar trade with Turkey. He noted Iran’s exports to Turkey in four months have been around $650m while in return its imports have been around $550m.

Saadat said that Iran’s exports to Turkey are mainly dried fruits, agro products and raw materials while Turkey is exporting manufactured commodities.

On vaccination of Iranians in Turkey, he said Turkey has only COVID-19 vaccine jabs for those Iranians who are resident of Turkey and there is no vaccination for non-resident Iranians and it is not Armenia where Iranians could get vaccine jabs. He reiterated that Turkey has had some 75m doses of vaccines and all have been for Turkish nationals or residents and the government is very tough on this issue.
