“They use proxies and violence to push other nations in the region to their agenda.”
According to Defense News, Mr McKenzie claimed Iran were funding and arming terrorist organisations, propping up the “murderous regime” of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
He also said Iran had been providing advanced weapons to rebels in Yemen and directed attacks on oil tankers and US troops in Iraq.

And Mr McKenzie believes the death of Mr Soleimani shocked Iranians and said: “They see we have the will to act.”
The US State Department is reportedly putting pressure on Iranian leaders both diplomatically and through sanctions to make them renounce their nuclear ambitions.
They are also calling for Iran to cease work on ballistic missiles as well as exporting terrorism against neighbours, Mr McKenzie claimed.

The resolution was passed by both Houses of Congress in a bipartisan bid to limit the president’s power to use military force against Iran without congressional approval.
Mr Trump blasted the resolution and argued it was “based on misunderstandings of facts and law”.
In a statement, he said: “This was a very insulting resolution, introduced by Democrats as part of a strategy to win an election on November 3 by dividing the Republican Party.

Mr Trump has also increased tensions between China and the US after continuously blaming them for the outbreak of COVID-19.
